Eva St. Amand

Picture of the Artist

The little guy with Eva in the picture above is Grandson Cole.

Eva comes to expressive art in much the same fashion she comes to life in general. She learns the basics and expresses herself from the inspiration of her muses.

Her working career included a stint in London England as an Immigration Counselor, work in a provincial Rentals-man office and a number of mindless jobs in BC, Saskatchewan and Alberta.

When she returned to British Columbia she got her pilot’s license - and liked flying so much so that she bought the flying school.

Marriage, children, moving across the country several times, and learning how to be an accountant came before settling down in Calgary.

Working with a number of small business as an accountant/bookkeeper/comptroller/CFO is how she keeps food on the table and funds her art and winter travel south. Most of what she does involves facilitating learning for others.

In 1996, and in desperate need of an expressive outlet with some challenge, Eva tried tole painting.

She discovered she has the capacity to learn, great talent and passion for art forms.

Blessedly, she moved onto other formats. Now she is proficient in many painting styles.

In 2008, a friend asked Eva to decorate a shawl she was giving as a gift. Realizing that the material was not suitable for painting on, Eva tried embellishing the shawl with bead-work.

A new passion was born! Starting with beading on materials and stringing bead necklaces, Eva now designs and makes complex jewellery using may different techniques. Ever the teacher, beading classes will soon be added to the mix.

Award Winner

In June 2011 Eva received the The White Hat Award - given to a member for her outstanding contribution to, in support of, and promotion of the Calgary Decorative Artists – to a person within the Chapter who has shown outstanding fellowship and participation.

Congratulations.
